While serving as the U.S. Student Ambassador of Spain for the Spanish Ministry of Exterior Culture in 2008-2009, I met several short filmmakers and festival organizers during my travels. I realized that these creators needed to be heard and seen, so I started developing relationships with Spanish short film distributors and created annual short film festivals in Kennesaw, GA (c. 2008), and EspañaEnCorto began in Athens, GA in 2012.

The film festival’s reputation for quality and uniqueness attracts hundreds of attendees to the Georgia Museum of Art every Spring. Now, EspañaEnCorto is a cultural staple at The University of Georgia and of the greater arts community in Athens.

My Roles ︎︎︎

- Founder and Chief Organizer (2012-2016)
- Forging and maintaining relationships with sponsors, distributors & guest speakers
- Coordinating digital & print publicity materials and promotion strategies
- Overseeing film selections and programming with a volunteer committee

When I moved to Montreal, I’m proud to say that I have passed the torch to my colleagues at UGA who have taken over the film festival and even migrated it to be hosted online during the COVID-19 pandemic.
